Let's Talk About Stained Glass

This informative and interesting lecture will cover the three most popular ways to achieve the stained glass look in quilting. Reverse appliqué, Quick Fuse Appliqué and Bias tape techniques will be discussed. Tamra will provide a trunk show with stained glass quilts that illustrate how selecting the right fabrics will bring the desired look of stained glass. She will share how to convert patterns, prepare your fabric and how to quilt these wonderful projects. Tamra will offer a demonstration for the most common method: Bias tape. The lecture will include a hand-out with a free pattern and a question and answer session.

Workshops

Stained Glass Quilting 101

In this workshop the ins and outs of stained glass quilting will be covered. Students will have a brief introduction to the other methods of stained glass, however in class time we will focus on using the "Bias tape technique" to create a beautiful table runner. Students will have the choice of three different patterns for their stained glass project. The Pansy, the Poinsettia or the Daisy block. 

By the end of the workshop students will be comfortable selecting and preparing fabrics for this method. They will learn how to convert patterns and have a better understanding of the different types of Bias tape. They will have hands on experience with how to create and apply bias tape to their own project. Nominal kit fee.

Appliqué My Way

Learn how to create dimension with this beautiful Wall Quilt. Students will learn how to use bias tape for stems and create bonded appliqués. We will discuss how to convert other patterns to this method. Handouts and tips are provided on how to mark on difficult fabrics, along with tips for quilting and caring for these dimension projects. This is a fast and fun way to achieve appliqué.

Wonderful World of Wool

Learn about the wonderful world of wool appliqué, while creating this charming "needle and notions keeper". This project will keep you organized while you work on future wool projects. Hands on "Wool Appliqué" instruction is covered in this workshop along with how you can add dimension to your wool projects using embellishments. You will learn how to care for your wool projects. Also covered is how to recycle wool - you will be surprised how easy and affordable wool work can be with these methods! 

Students will have their choice of a pattern for appliqué. Wool kit is included in this workshop. 

The Kitchen Sink Class

In this workshop students will learn about different ways to enhance and embellish their projects, Students will experience hands on with paintsticks and Tsukineeko inks. Students are encouraged to bring an “ugly fabric” to transform. 
Using Crystals, beads charms and buttons will be discussed and demonstrated. Nominal kit fee.

Fees

Fees: Lectures are $300.00 per hour

Lecture is $ 200.00 in conjunction with a class- the class fees are $ 300.00 for three hours and $ 500.00 for six hours.

Classes are $350.00 for three hours and $ 550.00 for 6 hours.

A contract is provided upon request, which details travel expenses.
