Adding Outer Borders

Measure the center and *edges and take the average to determine the cut of the border whether it is top and bottom or side borders. This will help square up top.

*If it is a wall hanging, just measure the center to determine the cut of the border.

If the measurement is more or less than the edge you are going sew the border on, no matter if it is the top, bottom or sides on, you will be easing this in by pinning and then sewing. Start by finding the center of the strip and the quilt top. Place a pin at the center and pin ends as shown below:

Then add pins approximately half way between the center and end pins as shown below:

Continue adding pins halfway between the other pins to secure and easy in. Sew and press towards the border fabric.
